The Be Smart Kids™ e-learning system delivers a sequence of fun and effective lesson plans through CD Rom and online downloads. Lessons are disguised as fun, colorful, active online adventures in counting, identifying, tracing, sounding out, and singing words. Computer lessons are guided by an adult, and are to be enjoyed once a week: no more, no less. Each session is a 30-minute session. No more; could be less, depending upon the child’s attention span. (Be Smart Kids™ enhances the child’s attention span!)

OBJECTIVES
The Greenforest Early Childhood/Pre-Literacy Technology Program prepares pre-school children for the rigors of academic life and gives the children an effective foundation for academic success. The Program is committed to teaching children technology education, social skills, literacy, language skills, reading, effective study skills and time management skills that are necessary for academic and life survival.

The Greenforest Early Childhood/Pre-Literacy Technology Program revolves around weekly fifteen minutes to half-hour computer sessions for children from the age of 18 months to 4 years. The sessions are administered by educators of the Greenforest McCalep Early Learning Center, a cadre of community volunteers and partners in conjunction with youth/mentor volunteers.

More than 500 Greenforest children have participated in BSK in the past five years, with a cumulative total of more than 160 volunteers from the Church. This program has been funded with grants totaling $69,000 from the Wachovia Foundation and DeKalb County.
